Quick Summary
This course is an introductory course to provide Scouts & Venturers with knowledge and basic skills required to safely and efficiently paddle a Canoe on flat water.
A Canoe Participant Certificate is issued upon successful completion of this course which is required for Scouts & Venturers to particpate in Canoe Trips & Activities.

(Near Balliang Sanctuary)
Friday Night: 6:30 PM
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 AM (To be on the water by 9:00 AM)

Friday Night: 8:30 PM
Saturday & Sunday: 4:00 PM (dependant on weather)

Participants are to be dropped off and picked up from the Geelong Canoe Club each day as above.

Have a good breakfast before you come each day.
BYO Nutritious Lunch (eg Sandwiches and Fruit) and Scroggin for both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday Lunch must be in Waterproof bag or container.

Friday Evening – Casual Clothes (Dry Activities)

Saturday & Sunday
Participants MUST wear suitable clothing for forecast weather conditions. Clothing will get completely wet and likely muddy.  Jeans not permitted.
 
Participants MUST have suitable footwear such as old runners or wetsuit booties (bare feet, thongs, crocks, elastic sided boots and hike boots are NOT permitted)
  • Water Bottle
  • Sunscreen & Hat
  • Light Raincoat / Windproof Jacket 
  • Hat & old Sunglasses
  • Towel
  • Lunch
  • Spare set of Dry Clothes

Safety Notes
Participants must obey the direction of Leaders at all times.

All Participants will be getting completely wet on both days during rescue drills.
